Fall Clothing Drive

What comes to mind when you think of October? Apple-picking? Pumpkin spice everything? Harvest? Here at Coriander Style, our thoughts turn to new Fall fashions. And why not?

Perhaps a glance in your closet is giving you the rather silly notion that there simply isn’t enough room in there for any gorgeous new additions. Well, that simply isn’t true. Oh, no.

Not only can room be made, but, at the same time, you can help out others in your community and the environment. Ever heard of the sustainable fashion movement? It involves, among other things, the preloved clothing market.

At Coriander Style, we’ve dedicated October to a month long Fall Clothing Drive. A harvest, if you will, of gently used garments with lots of life still in them to be passed along to others.

Have a discerning bestie over, open a bottle or put on the kettle, and get started! Be honest about what garments you truly love and still work for you, and what garments belong elsewhere for better appreciation.

Bring those gently worn pieces that you’ve designated to your “donate” pile (washed and folded please) to Coriander Style anytime in the month of October and we'll give you $15 credit towards a clothing purchase you make that day PLUS we’ll take your treasures to the Beaver Valley Outreach for you!  And just like that you are participating in the sustainable fashion movement.

Getting Started

A browse through your drawers and closets will tell you what pieces you favour and what ones barely see the light of day. Maybe you’re not a jean jacket gal, but that hanger would make a lovely home for your new Wild 2 Mauritius leather jacket when you’re not out rockin’ it around town and country.

Make a list on your phone (yes, there is always a Notes/Keep Notes/Memo app that nobody uses, but really should) or piece of paper to keep your findings on record and close at hand. You will forget something. That is a given.

This is now your guiding light for what to pass along and what to replace.

Our Collingwood community has so many options for clothing donations or consignments.

For those pieces that are in like-new condition or have only had a few wears, get in touch with ‘Loved You Madly’ in Thornbury to find out about selling by consignment.

The Beaver Valley Outreach’s Treasure Shop sells donated clothing, with the proceeds going directly back into the community. And, remember, from October 1-31, we’ll take your donations to BVO for you AND give you $15 credit towards a clothing purchase you make that day. Yay for sustainable fashion and the preloved clothing movement!

Fall Style 2023

So after you’ve washed and folded your donations (thank you!), it’s time to look at your wardrobe wants and needs.

Knowing how mercurial October, November, and December can be, it’s important to make sure you’ve got the basics covered and that you have versatile pieces for easy and comfortable dressing through this temperamental transition.

Coriander has got your Fall 2023 closet refresh covered.

Let’s start with the basics: coats and jackets, jeans, and sweaters are essentials for staying cozy and comfy…and chic.

Jackets truly are essential for this time of year and a great way to inject some autumnal colour into your wardrobe.

Our new collection from Aldo Martins is a chromatic punch with panache out the wazoo. Check out this Kylie Jacket.

Of course, basic black is quite versatile.

And earth tones never go amiss either.

Jeans are a year round staple. Ready for whatever the day has in store, they pair with a sleek turtleneck, relaxed shirt, or boxy, colourful sweater.

Ah, sweater weather. Just add a fire and a bit of chill in the air, and you’re there.

The long…

…and short of it.

A Boutique in Your Closet

This bears repeating: refreshing your closet doesn’t have to be limited to clothing.

While you’ve got it organized is a great time to assess where you might be able to create more space. Think about how new paint, wallpaper, lighting, or hangers might make it a place you really enjoy visiting every day.

Fall is here! And, now with Coriander’s guidance for a fall wardrobe refresh, it’s in your closet too!

Happy Autumn, Friends!
